The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled Saturday, June 28, 2025, for a nationwide mop-up of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), targeting over 96,000 candidates many of whom missed previous sittings or faced technical and biometric verification failures.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communications Adviser, a total of 96,838 candidates are slated to participate in the mop-up exercise.
The exam body noted that the figure includes 5,096 candidates carried over due to unresolved biometric challenges, as well as 91,742 candidates who were absent during both the main UTME and earlier rescheduled exams.
In a firm stance against exam fraud, JAMB revealed that 113 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres involved in various forms of malpractice including technical manipulation and collusion have been delisted and are under active investigation. Candidates initially assigned to these centres will be reassigned to new venues across 183 approved centres nationwide.
“The Board is working closely with security agencies to clamp down on impersonation and identity theft, some of which involve undergraduates, school owners, and even internal officials,” Benjamin disclosed. He further warned that students caught in such acts face potential expulsion from their institutions and criminal prosecution under the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999.
The statement also highlighted JAMB’s gratitude to the State Security Service, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for their collaborative efforts in uncovering fraud syndicates.
“Several towns linked to malpractice have now been removed from the list of active exam zones.
Candidates are advised to print their notification slips starting Monday, June 23, 2025, to verify their exam details.”
The exam body also emphasized that the first session will begin at 8:00 a.m. on exam day and advised all candidates to arrive at least an hour early.
JAMB also assured the public that the mop-up will be conducted under tight security ,with special squads of invigilators to monitor compliance and curb any form of irregularity.
