Despite a calm and orderly atmosphere at Polling Unit 061, Ward A, in the Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, no voters turned up for the local government elections on Saturday.
All Progressives Congress (APC) agent Samuel Ogunlokun expressed disappointment over the situation, noting that efforts had been made to encourage residents to participate. “The turnout is not encouraging. We tried to canvass people, but they did not come out,” he said. “Although there is no problem generally. This area has been very peaceful.”
Another party agent at the scene, clearly frustrated, declined to speak. The election, conducted by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), is taking place across 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
