School Expels Students Over Bullying Incident Captured in Viral Video

Students involved in a bullying and physical assault incident captured in a viral video have been expelled from Igbinedion Education Centre, the school’s management has announced.

In a statement dated March 13, the school said the incident, which has been circulating online, involved students of the institution and was considered a serious violation of its rules and values.

Management described the behaviour seen in the video as “deeply disturbing” and contrary to the standards upheld by the school community.

“The behaviour shown in the video is deeply disturbing and stands in direct violation of the values and standards we uphold. The school maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward bullying, intimidation, harassment, and any form of violence,” the statement said.

According to the school, an immediate investigation was launched after the incident came to its attention, leading to the expulsion of the students responsible.

“Following an immediate investigation, the students responsible have been expelled from the school with immediate effect. Such conduct will never be tolerated within our school community,” the management added.

The school also stated that its priority remains the safety and wellbeing of students, noting that support is being provided to those affected by the incident.

“We are providing support to those affected and are working closely with their families to ensure the matter is addressed with the seriousness it deserves,” the statement said.

Management further disclosed that the matter has been reported to the appropriate authorities and that the school is cooperating fully, noting that the students involved are minors.

The school thanked parents and guardians for their cooperation and support while the issue is being addressed.
