Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has earned a spot among the nominees for the prestigious 2024 Globe Soccer Awards.
His nomination marked a significant achievement in his career.
Lookman, currently dazzling in Serie A with Atalanta, is listed alongside some of football’s greatest talents, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland, as contenders for the coveted Best Men’s Player title.
The 2024 nominees were announced by the Globe Soccer Awards on Thursday via social media, highlighting a blend of legendary figures and emerging stars from Europe’s top leagues. Messi and Ronaldo continue to feature prominently on the shortlist, maintaining their dominance in the global football landscape even as they enter the twilight of their careers. Their enduring performances reflect their ability to defy age and remain at the summit of the game.
The nomination list also showcases rising stars such as Manchester city’s Phil Foden, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, who are making waves in the Premier League. On the international stage, France’s Kylian Mbappé and Norway’s Erling Haaland also make their mark as two of the most exciting young talents in football today.
In addition to Lookman, a number of high-profile names from across Europe’s elite clubs are in the running, including Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, the Spanish prodigy whose performances have caught the attention of football fans worldwide. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, another of England’s brightest young stars, is also among the nominees.
The Globe Soccer Awards stated, “The nominees with the highest number of votes will form the shortlist of finalists in this category.”
“The 15th edition of the Beyond Development Dubai #GlobeSoccer Awards will take place on 27th December, alongside the 19th Dubai International Sports Conference, in partnership with the @DubaiSC Sports Council.”
