The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has firmly rejected assertions labeling President Bola Tinubu’s administration as a “Yoruba government.”

In a statement issued by the group’s Organizing Secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu, Afenifere emphasized that President Tinubu’s leadership is a product of democratic choice by Nigerians across diverse backgrounds, not a tribal inheritance.

The statement read in part :”Let it be said, plainly and without ambiguity, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government is not a Yoruba government.
It is a Nigerian government,”
“He did not ascend to the presidency by tribal inheritance but by democratic choice the result of votes cast in faith by Nigerians of every tongue, creed, and religion.”

Afenifere condemned attempts to stereotype the administration based on ethnicity, describing such actions as dishonest and seditious.
The group highlighted that during President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure, no such ethnic labeling was used to undermine his leadership. They insisted that the same principle of equity and continuity must apply to President Tinubu’s administration.

The organization also commended Dr. Sandra Duru for exposing what they termed a clandestine plot to sabotage the Tinubu administration by branding it as ethnically biased. Afenifere praised her courage in speaking truth to power and standing against conspiracy.

“Her voice is a reminder that integrity still walks among us, and that silence, in the face of wickedness, is not an option for those who love this country,” the statement added.

Afenifere reiterated its commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria, urging all citizens to reject divisive narratives and support the nation’s democratic institutions.
