Aminu Jaji, a member of the House of Representatives from Zamfara State, has exposed the alarming state of insecurity in his constituency, Kaura-Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Jaji revealed that armed insurgents have resorted to feeding newborn babies in captivity to their dogs, a claim that has left many in shock.
According to Jaji, a pregnant woman was abducted and gave birth to twins in captivity. The bandit leader allegedly took the twins and fed them to his dogs, a horrific act that highlights the depths of depravity in the region. Jaji, visibly distressed, emphasized the need for urgent action to address the security situation in Zamfara State.
“In my constituency alone, over 200 people have been kidnapped by bandits. Two weeks ago, 60 people were abducted in Banga. Ten of them were later killed because the community could not raise the N30m ransom demanded by the abductors. As we were grieving, another 25 were taken from Gabake. Just yesterday, fresh attacks occurred in Kungurki,” he said.
Jaji urged the government to overhaul the nation’s security architecture, expressing concern that President Bola Tinubu may not be receiving accurate reports about the situation in the North-West. He advocated for a strategic shift in military operations, leveraging technology to combat insecurity.
Jaji dismissed calls for deploying mercenaries, insisting that Nigeria’s armed forces are capable of securing the country if properly equipped and motivated. He emphasized the need to ensure the welfare and motivation of security agents, rather than hiring external forces.
“I don’t believe that in Nigeria we need mercenaries to prosecute the war against terrorists.
Our gallant soldiers have the capacity to secure the country. But the only thing that we need to do as a country is to step up a little bit and be more digitalized in the way we operate. “
