The Energy and Maritime Reporters (EMR) has resolved to strengthen partnerships and initiatives aimed at developing the oil, gas and blue economy sectors in the Niger Delta.
Chairman of EMR, Comrade Martins Giadom, announced the decision at the association’s congress held at the NUJ Complex in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Giadom said the association would develop stronger proposals to attract sponsors for its Live Roundtable programme and expand its reach across more media platforms in Port Harcourt.
The meeting also resolved that EMR would participate in observing International Days and partner with the Rivers State Government to promote the rich and untapped blue economy.
NUJ Vice Chairman, Kelvin Nengia, who described Rivers as the main hub of Nigeria’s blue economy, promised NUJ support for the upcoming Rivers EMR Conference and Awards Ceremony.
He also commended EMR for partnering with the Dr Membere-Otagi Foundation in sponsoring the Annual Best Niger Delta Maritime Awards and urged the association to engage key government agencies for support.
The association agreed to pursue sponsorships, professional training and foster stronger collaboration across the 11 EMR chapters across the country.
The EMR Rivers chapter further emphasised its readiness to drive visibility for the energy and maritime sector in the Niger Delta and grow Nigeria’s economy.
