A tragic incident unfolded in Isseke, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, as unidentified assailants murdered a family of four in their residence. The victims, including an elderly man and three women, were found lifeless in their apartment. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident, identifying the victims as members of the family of Ichie Kennedy Igboanugo, also known as Ichie Akuruoulo 1 of Isseke. According to police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the assailants invaded the family’s apartment during the night and carried out the killings.

“Following the joint clearance operations involving the police, military, and other security operatives to dislodge criminal elements in the state, we regrettably recorded a cowardly gruesome murder of a family of four at Isseke,” Ikenga stated. “Preliminary information revealed that the criminals unprovokedly attacked the elderly man and his family members.”

The police have cordoned off the area and recovered the bodies, which have been deposited at the morgue. Investigations are ongoing, and the command has intensified efforts to apprehend the perpetrators. “The joint security team has also reinforced the area for any untoward situation,” Ikenga added.

This incident adds to a series of violent attacks in Anambra State. In a related development, gunmen recently killed seven security operatives in the Ihiala area, prompting the police to launch a manhunt for the attackers.

The Anambra State Police Command urges residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. “We are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all citizens,” Ikenga emphasized.
