The road traffic and vehicle inspection mayors inducted their batch A in Abuja as a continuation of their enlarged volunteerism on road traffic in the country. The FCT squadron leader and national coordinator of the road traffic and vehicle inspection mayors Engr Yusuf John Suberu in his welcome remark appreciated the gesture of most of the new inductee by opting to contribute to nation building through traffic volunteerism.
He implored them to be good ambassadors of DRTS and the entire VIO on traffic volunteerism, and must see their external role as one needed at anytime so as to ease traffic hitches across the country.
” So far,the RTO/VIO mayors have set a pace for themselves through working on already existing road traffic guidelines alongside regular vehicle traffic officers in VIO. Much is expected from you in discharge of your duties.” Suberu added. Dignitaries present at the ocassion includes the transportation secretary represented by Engr Richard Aderinwale director Brt/Tr,social development secretary represented by Mrs Chinezie Oranyen director planning research and statistics,FRSC corp marshal represented by DCM EP Osawe,fct commissioner of police represented by ACP Habib Rabiu Area commander lifecp,Member of Reps representing Oshodi Isolo hon Bar Joe represented by Onnakalusi Atusimbah Ifeanachi,fct director of director of road traffic services dr Abdul Lateef Bello as well as controller Abubakar A chief provost of Nigeria customs service
The fct director of road traffic services Dr Abdul Lateef Bello urged the new inductees to put in their best in complimenting the efforts of the vio. He emphasised that as it has been,the directorate has always supported efforts of the vio mayors and shall continue to do so.He congratulated them and urged them to be good ambassadors of the directorate. Other goodwill messages were delivered by other personalities from different agencies.About thirty mayors were inducted at the ceremony with all the dignitaries on the high table playing different roles
