Independence Day, the Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, a public holiday.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

In his remarks, Tunji-Ojo praised the resilience and dedication of Nigerians, both at home and abroad.

He acknowledged the challenges the country has faced but remained optimistic, stating that the sacrifices made by ordinary citizens would not be in vain. He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their efforts toward nation-building.

He urged Nigerian to reflect on the “labour of our heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead, realizing that a Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite.”
