Two Arrested, One on the Run for Transformer Theft

A 50-year-old man, KC Okojie Prince, and 40-year-old Aruka Uche, have been apprehended for allegedly stealing two electricity transformers and two drums of 2.5mm flex cable wires in Benin-City.

The suspects reportedly gained entrance to No. 8 Idugboe Estate, off Sapele Road, on August 11, 2024, and made off with the electrical equipment.

The stolen items included a 300kva transformer, a 100kva transformer, and two drums of 2.5mm flex cable wire. According to Moses Yamu, Command’s spokesman, revealed that Prince confessed to the crime, committed with accomplice Ojo, who remains at large.

He added, “He further led our operatives to the receiver of the stolen items, one Aruka Uche 40yrs and all the equipment were recovered at No. 5 Eben Street, off Akpakpava, Benin-City.”

State Commissioner of Police, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, urged the public to cooperate with the Police and report any information leading to the capture of criminals, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to minimizing kidnappings, armed robbery, and other criminal activities in the state.
