Nigerian actress and producer Belinda Effah, now known as Grace-Charis Bassey Effah, has marked a significant milestone by becoming a United States citizen and enlisting in the U.S. Navy at the age of 40. She dedicated this achievement to her late father, Lieutenant Commander Asido Bassey Effah, a former officer in the Nigerian Navy.
Effah, renowned for her roles in Nollywood and her award-winning performance in Kokomma, shared her accomplishment on social media, expressing gratitude and reflecting on her journey from the film industry to military service. Her decision to join the Navy is seen as a tribute to her father’s legacy and a new chapter in her life.
In 2021, Effah announced a name change to Grace-Charis Bassey Effah, inspired by a spiritual encounter that led her to embrace a new identity. She explained, “I had to change my name, and the only thing that can make me change my name will be the most supreme being, which is God.”
