A deadly attack on Sunday left one Anambra State Vigilante Service member injured and their operational vehicle set ablaze, after yet-to-be-identified gunmen ambushed them along the Amesi-Uga Road in Aguata Local Government Area.
According to Anambra State Police Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, “The police-led security forces on Sunday, by 2.30 pm responded swiftly to an attack on members of the Anambra State Vigilantes of Umuchu extraction along the Amesi-Uga Road and rescued one wounded vigilante operative.”
Ikenga confirmed that the injured victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment and that police operatives cordoned off the scene to prevent further looting.
