Hon. Nuradeen Bissallah, a prominent grassroots politician and loyal party stalwart, has emerged as the newly elected Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
His victory was confirmed at the party’s state congress held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the SDP National Secretariat in Abuja. The well-attended event witnessed peaceful delegate voting and also produced other executive members, including Hon. Gloria Sarauniya Usman as the new State Secretary.
Bissallah brings years of political experience to his new role. He previously served as Personal Assistant to a former FCT Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for 15 years and later as Assistant State Secretary of the PDP. His switch to the SDP marked a new chapter in his political career, where he quickly became a key figure in strengthening the party’s grassroots appeal.
He officially declared his interest in the FCT chairmanship in April 20
Following his election, party members and stakeholders praised Bissallah’s commitment to the SDP’s growth.
“He deserves this position,” one delegate told JOWBBLOG. “Hon. Bissallah has been a pillar of this party—working behind the scenes to uphold our values and structure, even when it wasn’t politically convenient.”
His leadership is expected to usher in a new era of inclusivity, youth engagement, and strategic mobilization to expand the SDP’s reach across the six area councils of the FCT. Political observers believe his emergence signals stronger grassroots consolidation and increased visibility for the SDP ahead of future elections.
