The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 42-year-old Indian woman, Neetu Neetu, for attempting to smuggle 72 parcels of heroin into Nigeria. The illicit drugs, cleverly disguised as chocolates, were seized at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano.
According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, the consignment, weighing 11 kilograms, was discovered in Neetu’s luggage during a thorough search based on credible intelligence. She was apprehended on Friday, March 14, 2025, while undergoing inward clearance from a Qatar Airways flight (QR1431) that arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, via Vietnam and Doha.
NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), emphasized that this arrest reflects a growing trend where drug trafficking syndicates recruit foreign nationals, including white women, to smuggle narcotics into Nigeria. He reaffirmed that NDLEA operatives, aided by advanced technology and proactive intelligence, remain committed to dismantling these networks and preventing drug smuggling across Nigerian borders.
