Lagos Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Domestic, Sexual Violence After Viral TikTok Allegation

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has reiterated the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance stance against domestic and sexual violence following a viral TikTok video in which a young woman alleged she was sexually assaulted in her residence.

In a statement issued in response to the circulating video, the agency said it had taken note of multiple tags and public concerns and was actively working to reach the survivor to provide immediate support and appropriate intervention.

“We want to state clearly that we have seen the reports and we are actively making efforts to reach the survivor to offer immediate support and appropriate intervention and ascertain the location. Our team has initiated contact through available channels and will continue efforts to establish communication,” the statement read.

The agency appealed to members of the public with credible information that could help locate and safely reach the survivor to send direct messages through its official social media channels.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice, the agency stressed that sexual assault is a crime and that every survivor deserves protection, care, support and justice.

It also encouraged survivors to speak up, assuring the public that all reports are treated with utmost confidentiality and urgency.
