Women have been admonished to be involved at all levels of leadership in the country to foster harmony and support within the society.
The daughter of President and the Iyaloja General Mrs Folasade Tinubu Ojo said women active participation in nation building will develop the nation.
Tinubu -Ojo stated this at the IWD celebration in Akure, Ondo State capital.
According to her, women should be involved in the stages of building their immediate environment and the nation at large.
“Women should be aware of their importance in contributing and joining hand with men to work to build.the nation.
They should not relent in contributing their quota to the development of the nation”, she said.
The State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by his deputy, Mr Olayide Adelami,assured the general public that this administration will continue to support women in all possible ways to attain their full potentials in all spheres of life.
“It is high time we gave room for our women to exhibit their full potential for the attainment of their economic breakthrough, access to needed health services and empowerment in order to inspire the inclusion which is the motive of this year’s theme”.he said
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender Matters, Mrs. Olamide Falana, said
women are great mobilizers and should be given the right support to excel in life.
“Beyond the home front, women are found in every sphere of life, characterised as moulders, counsellors, managers, networkers, communicators, enthusiasts, and in politics,
“The era whereby women were being faced with series of militating factors centred around gender-based violence, sexual harassment, workplace discrimination, and disenfranchisement is phasing out. “
The Special adviser said that young girls should no longer be pushed aside into early marriage, and forced labour or sexual slavery.
“The young girls of today are our future change ambassadors that would add value to the society.
We are urging the government at all levels to systematically invest in women so they could be free and add value to society just as the hashtag #Inspire Inclusion# implies.
“We want to see women rise to enviable positions. We want women to be at the forefront and become extraordinary, only then can we be recognised and recommended for various positions of leadership”, she said.
