The Northern traders alliance has commended President Tinubu on the recent order given to the Nigeria customs service to release food items arrested at border area in Katsina.
The Group through it national secretary Datti Maigida similarly appealed to President Tinubu to intervene inthe release of cooking gas transported from Niger seized in Kano by the Kano zonal office of the economic and financial crimes commission since last year September.
The ECOWAS free trade convention seems not to be working if not how can common cooking gas be seized inthe guise of economic sabotage on petroleum products? Presently, only three petrol stations are working in jibiya a border town in Katsina out of thirteen.
The ten filling stations were closed down by the Nigeria customs service against consideration of the inhabitants of the area.
We are strongly appealing to the CinC to order the efcc onthe seized cooking gas products as well as the customs to reopen the closed filling stations.
The magnanimity of Mr President is needed at this time. Some of these agencies don’t take into consideration the hardship being faced by some people whose means of livelihood is stocked. The essence of democracy is to make life better and not worst.
