Emergency responders from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have rescued four adult males from the rubble of a collapsed three-storey building in the Alagomeji area of Yaba, Lagos.
The victims were pulled out alive and rushed to the hospital late Friday night, September 12, 2025.
“There were conflicting reports some said five, others said six people were trapped,” “Rescue operations are still ongoing. The number of those unaccounted for remains uncertain.” a NEMA official stated
The collapse occurred around 8:30 p.m. at 333 Borno Street, sparking chaos and a swift response from emergency teams, including LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and local volunteers.
Teams have been working through the night, carefully navigating the unstable debris to avoid further collapse.Residents joined the effort, voicing frustration over weak oversight in construction practices across the city.
While the exact cause of the collapse is still under investigation, authorities have vowed to conduct a full probe once all victims are accounted for.
