The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council mourns the loss of Elder Samuel Ayanlola Oyekunle, father of its Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, who passed away on March 20, 2025, at 76 after a brief illness in Ibadan.
Elder Oyekunle was a former Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Photographer Association (NPPA) Oyo State Iseyin Branch. He was a peace-loving father, husband, and opinion leader who lived a life worthy of emulation. His legacy of dedication, selflessness, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of society and humanity will continue to inspire future generations.
Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council Grace Ike stated that
“Elder Oyekunle was a distinguished opinion leader, lover of people, and a beacon of hope in the community. His invaluable contributions to the growth and development of Ilua Community, Iseyin Local Government, and the photography profession in Oyo State and the country as a whole will be a reference point in the annals of history,”
The NUJ FCT Council extends its deepest condolences to Comrade Jide Oyekunle, his wife, children, and the entire family during this grieving time. “We encourage the Secretary to find solace in the cherished memories shared with his father and assure him of our unwavering support,” she said .
Elder Oyekunle is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren. The funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
