The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has officially inaugurated its 8th National Administrative Council (NAC), ushering in a new phase for the union.
The event, held in Abuja, saw the swearing-in of new executives, with Comrade Aliyu Haruna Kankara assuming office as the president.
In his inaugural speech, Comrade Kankara paid tribute to his predecessor, Comrade Akeem Olatunji Ambali, recognizing his contributions to the union.
“Let me specially appreciate my predecessor, my leader, and my mentor. I boldly say without fear of contradiction that Comrade Akeem Olatunji Ambali gave his best to the union in all ramifications. His policies and programs were designed to make NULGE great again. Through prudent management of scarce resources, adequate representation, and, most importantly, ensuring peace and stability, he has set a solid foundation for us,” he stated.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transformation, Kankara emphasized, “Our mission remains unchanged: to provide appropriate leadership to consolidate our objectives and drive the critical transformation of our dear NULGE. This purpose is steadfast, unchanging, and will be pursued with vigor.”
Meanwhile, the outgoing president, Comrade Ambali, encouraged the new leadership, expressing confidence in his successor.
“My successor is a worthy son, tested and trusted. I will continue to pray for him, work with him, and advise him. He is going to perform even better than me,” he said.
