As the world marks International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger collective efforts to ensure the rights, equality, and empowerment of all women and girls.
Speaking in a message on Saturday to commemorate the occasion, Tinubu emphasized that achieving gender equality requires not just policy changes but a shift in societal attitudes and a commitment from both women and men.
“The theme for this year, For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment., is a call to action for everyone,” she stated. “The theme for this year serves as a powerful reminder of the need to reaffirm our commitment to building a society where every woman and girl can thrive, free from discrimination and limitations.”
She highlighted the resilience and achievements of women across various sectors, urging them to support one another in breaking barriers.
“Women I believe it is time for women to make this happen. Let us all endeavour to lift each other up, one woman at a time,” she said.
The First Lady’s message aligns with global efforts to promote women’s rights and underscores the importance of unity in the fight for gender equality.
