A Russian airstrike on a holiday camp in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region has killed two people and injured 12 others, including four children, according to local authorities.
The attack, which occurred on August 6, 2025, targeted a resort facility, causing significant damage and sparking international condemnation.
In the early hours of August 6, Russian forces launched an airstrike on a resort facility in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to 12 others, including four children.
The attack caused extensive damage to at least nine buildings within the resort complex. Local emergency services released images depicting firefighters battling flames engulfing single-story cottages and emergency personnel attending to victims on the blood-stained ground.
President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, stating, “There’s no military sense in this attack. It’s just cruelty to scare people.” He further noted that hundreds of residents were left without electricity due to additional Russian strikes in the southern regions.
The Zaporizhzhia region, which Russia claims to have annexed, has been subjected to increasingly frequent and deadly attacks. Despite the Kremlin’s assertions, the area remains a frontline in the ongoing conflict. The recent airstrike adds to the growing list of assaults on civilian infrastructure, drawing widespread international criticism.
There has been no immediate comment from Moscow regarding the latest strikes. Russia, which initiated its invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, continues to deny targeting civilians, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.
The international community has expressed deep concern over the escalating attacks on civilian targets, calling for renewed efforts to protect non-combatants and hold those responsible accountable.
