As part of move of reducing the escalating wave of abductions in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Ireti Kingibe has declared that the Senate will summon FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and top security officials.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics on Sunday, Kingibe asserted the urgency for a meeting with the ministers and security heads, by demanding comprehensive security plans for the nation’s capital.
“I plan that the (Senate) FCT committee specifically needs to sit with the two ministers and the security agencies for them to give us their plans concerning security,” Kingibe disclosed.
She anticipates Wike’s summons, emphasizing the necessity for the chief security officer of the FCT to present a strategic plan.
While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies, Kingibe stressed the need for more robust measures, stating, “Catching the kidnappers is just the symptom. We need to get to the root cause of what is causing all of this insecurity”, she said.
The Senator, unyielding in her pursuit of effective security measures, highlights the importance of addressing underlying issues contributing to the prevailing insecurity in the nation’s capital.
