The Federal Road Safety Corps on Monday, said road traffic crashes situation must be reversed in 2024 and beyond.
The Corps Marshal FRSC, Dauda Biu, made the statement on Monday at a press briefing in Abuja while recounting the numbers of those who lost their lives to road traffic crashes in 2023.
According to Biu, a total of 5,081 people were killed in various road traffic crashes across the country in 2023, While 10,617 road traffic crashes were recorded in 2023 and 31,874 were injured as a result of speed violations, overloading, continuous night journeys, and wrongful overtaking among others.
Speaking further, he said five of its officers were knocked down by recalcitrant drivers, adding that two died in the process.
