President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working with state governments to strengthen school security across the country.
The President made the pledge as he welcomed the rescued 100 students of Papiri Catholic School in Niger State.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu expressed joy over the safe return of the students and commended the security agencies for their “steadfast and tireless” efforts since the abduction on November 21.
“I have been briefed on the safe return of 100 students from the Catholic School in Niger State. I rejoice with Governor Umar Bago and commend our security agencies for their steadfast work in ensuring the safe return of the students to their families,” the President said.
Tinubu assured parents that both the Federal Government and the Niger State Government are working closely to ensure the remaining 115 abducted students and their teachers are rescued without delay.
“My directive to our security forces remains that all the students and other abducted Nigerians across the country must be rescued and brought back home safely. We must account for all the victims,” he said.
The President stressed that schoolchildren must no longer be “sitting ducks for heartless terrorists,” directing security agencies to intensify collaboration with state governors to prevent future attacks on schools.
Tinubu reiterated that the government will continue strengthening security measures to make learning environments safer and more conducive for children nationwide.
