In a heartbreaking incident, five children aged between six and ten were discovered dead inside an abandoned vehicle in the Agyaragu community of Obi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
The Nasarawa State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the lifeless bodies were found on Sunday, May 4, 2025, around 5:30 PM, inside an unserviceable vehicle parked at the residence of one Mr. Abu Agyeme. The discovery was reported by a resident, Mr. Ozimna Ogbor.
“Upon arrival, the officers found the victims locked inside the abandoned vehicle,” Nansel stated. “They were promptly evacuated to Aro Hospital, Agyaragu, where a medical doctor regrettably confirmed all of them dead due to suspected suffocation.”
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended the command’s heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the events leading to the tragedy.
“He also cautioned parents, guardians, and vehicle owners to be vigilant and ensure that children do not gain access to parked or abandoned vehicles without supervision,” Nansel added.
