A tragic incident occurred in Kebbi State on Friday, January 3, 2025, when two police officers lost their lives during a gun duel with bandits suspected to be members of the Lakurawa sect. The bandits had invaded a farm and nearby Fulani settlements, rustling an unspecified number of cows.
According to SP Nafiu Abubakar, the command’s spokesman, the police responded swiftly to the report, engaging the bandits in a gun battle and recovering some of the stolen cows. Unfortunately, two police officers paid the ultimate price during the encounter.
The Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, condemned the incident and prayed for the souls of the deceased officers to have eternal rest.
He stated that “May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in eternal peace, and may their sacrifice not be in vain.”
He also visited the scene and briefed the Emir of Argungu on the efforts of combined security agencies to combat crimes in the area.
