A shocking incident has occurred in the Iperu area of Ogun State, where a wife, Sarah Ayinde, set her husband, Abidemi Ayinde, a special constable with the Ogun State Police Command, ablaze following a minor dispute .
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, the couple had a heated argument on December 12, which escalated, and Sarah resorted to setting her husband on fire in a retaliatory attempt. The source revealed, “There is an incident in Iperu. A police constabulary was set on fire by his wife. They argued, and the wife set him on fire. He is currently hospitalized.”
Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that efforts are underway to apprehend Sarah. “The suspect, Sarah Ayinde, remains at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend her. The division’s crime branch is conducting further investigations into the matter,” Odutola said .
Abidemi is currently receiving medical attention at the Bolawatife Hospital and is in a stable condition. This incident bears a disturbing resemblance to a similar event in October 2019, where a policeman committed suicide after shooting his wife dead in Lagos State .
