The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced that Friday, November 29, 2024, will be a work-free day to honour the late First Lady, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno. The declaration was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, in a statement on Wednesday.
The work-free day is aimed at enabling residents of the state to pay their final respects to the late First Lady, whose passing has deeply affected the community. According to the statement, the decision was made in consultation with the bereaved family, and it is part of the final home-going activities for Pastor Patience Umo Eno.
The statement reads, “Further to the final home-going programme of our departed First Lady, Her Excellency, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno, the Akwa Ibom State Government, in consultation with the bereaved family, has declared Friday, November 29, 2024, a work-free day in honour of our dear mother.
“May the gentle soul of our departed First Lady find repose in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.”
This move reflects the state’s deep respect for Pastor Patience Umo Eno, who was widely admired for her role in supporting social causes and her dedication to her community during her tenure as First Lady.
