A devastating plane crash in Hudson River near Jersey City on Thursday afternoon ,claiming the lives of a local family, with authorities confirming that all six individuals on board, including two adults, one pilot, and three children, were tragically killed in the incident.
An eyewitnesses describing the terrifying scene. Avi Rakesh, who witnessed the crash, said he saw one of the helicopter’s blades break off mid-flight. “The chopper blade flew off,” Rakesh recalled, describing the aircraft heading south toward New Jersey before the incident. “I don’t know what happened to the tail, but it just dropped straight down,” he added, noting that the helicopter came down just feet from the Holland Tunnel.
Another witness, Eric Campoverde, described the moment of impact, saying, “I was walking by and the helicopter went down at a 45-degree angle. Big splash — it was very scary.” A third eyewitness likened the sound of the crash to a “sonic boom.” The proximity of the crash to the Holland Tunnel has raised concerns about the potential consequences if the helicopter had hit the tunnel
Emergency responders have pulled at least four people from the 50-degree water. The New York Police Department has issued a warning, advising locals to expect emergency vehicles and traffic delays in the area.
