Marwa Commends Tinubu’ s unwavering support against drug abuse

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support in the battle against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking, which pose significant threats to society.

During an inspection of newly constructed facilities in Yola, Adamawa State, Marwa expressed his appreciation to President Tinubu for his commitment to tackling the scourge of drug abuse.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders, including the media, religious leaders, community organizations, and security agencies, in eradicating this menace.

Marwa also highlighted the government’s dedication to addressing the root causes of drug abuse  such as poverty.

“We are  commending  the efforts of contractors and consultants for their quality workmanship in constructing vital infrastructure for the NDLEA. The collective effort underscores the nation’s resolve to combat illicit drug activities and safeguard the well-being of its citizens.”

President Buhari appreciated the issues surrounding the security and welfare of staff.

:They seize, arrest, prosecute and deal with the criminals, yet the criminals come back to them because they live among them. But now we have the barracks for our personnel. “

:President Buhari approved  the barracks, and commenced it, and now President Tinubu has continued with same zeal and drive, so we appreciate this element of concern towards the NDLEA.”

He said that the president is determined to pull Nigerians out of poverty.

“The  NDLEA and other institutions and stakeholders like the Ministry of Health, NAFDAC, are making efforts in the reduction of illicit drug dealing”, he said.
