The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State has taken a firm stance against job racketeering within its ranks, launching a three-day workshop aimed at addressing the issue.
The workshop, held in Lokoja, focused on combating job racketeering and financial fraud, practices that have been identified as damaging to the agency’s reputation and operational effectiveness.
During the opening session, Kogi State Commandant, Akinlade Esther, issued a stern warning to all officers, making it clear that any involvement in unethical job-related activities would result in immediate dismissal.
Her message highlighted the need for discipline, transparency, and professionalism within the Corps, especially as the agency continues to face mounting pressure to uphold public trust.
She said, “Our actions today align with the directive of the astute Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, whose policies and strategies are focused on capacity building for the Corps.
“Together, we can stand united against any form of malpractice that undermines the trust placed in us by the public and threatens the integrity of our noble agency.
“Let the lessons learned here today guide our actions and inspire us to be beacons of integrity in a world where deceit and fraud lurk in the shadows.”
In his address, Mr. Ulu Okoro, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Kogi, reiterated the importance of upholding the rule of law. He urged NSCDC personnel to be vigilant in preserving the core values of honesty and integrity.
“Let us be the guardians of truth and defenders of justice. Only through our unwavering dedication to these principles can we honour the trust bestowed upon us by the people we serve,” he stated.
