The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the abduction of residents in Kurmin Wali, a remote community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, prompting the full deployment of critical operational and intelligence assets to the area.
According to a statement by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed intensified patrols, deployment of tactical units, and targeted search-and-rescue operations to safeguard lives and property.
“The Force understands the fear and anxiety such reports cause families, residents, and the general public, and treats the safety of every citizen as a matter of utmost priority,” the statement said.
The abduction report was initially met with conflicting reactions during a Kaduna State Security Council meeting convened by the Governor.
Some individuals from the affected area disputed the claim, describing it as false. This prompted the Police to verify the situation thoroughly before making conclusive public statements.
CSP Hundeyin clarified that remarks by the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, aimed at preventing unnecessary panic, were widely misinterpreted.
“Those remarks were not a denial of the incident but a measured response pending confirmation of details from the field, including the identities and number of those affected,” the statement added.
Subsequent verification from operational and intelligence units confirmed the abduction, leading to coordinated security operations in collaboration with other agencies.
The Police have appealed to the public and media to exercise patience, rely on verified information, and avoid speculation that could compromise ongoing operations or increase public anxiety.
The Force reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of all citizens and pledged to provide updates as developments unfold.
