The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB has postponed the commencement of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME registration, originally set for Friday, January 31, to Monday, February 3.
The delay comes as the Board implements critical adjustments to its registration process, following concerns over the accreditation of certain Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers and recent changes in legal education policies.
According to JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the postponement was necessary to address discrepancies in the approval process of some CBT centers, which were found to have secured accreditation through deceptive means.
He said, “These adjustments come in light of the recent suspension of certain law programmes at selected universities, as submitted to the Board by the Council for Legal Education.
“Additionally, the Board discovered that some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres had used deceptive facilities to gain approval, prompting the need for further scrutiny and corrections by disapproving such centres.
JAMB further apologized to candidates and stakeholders for the inconvenience, assuring that the additional time will allow for a smoother and more transparent registration process.
“The Board acknowledges the disruption this may cause to candidates and other stakeholders and sincerely apologises for any inconvenience.
“The additional time will be used to ensure that all necessary changes are made for a smooth registration process,” he added.
